Hi all I recently re-started crunching some CPDN tasks and one was recently finished and uploaded. After 330,000 seconds of crunching, I received ZERO credit. The info is here:
All the trickles seems to have been uploaded too: Latest Trickles Received The quorum seems to be set to "1", but this task is still waiting validation... minimum quorum 1 I know we're running on the backup server but basic simple operations should be running OK such as website, forums and validation of returned tasks ? regards, Tim UK BOINC Team Founder Join the UK BOINC Team: http://www.ukboincteam.org.uk/newforum |

"Validation" as used in the BOINC system, is where 2 copies of a data set are run on 2 different computers and the results compared. cpdn doesn't and can't do this, as it only takes the slight difference between computers to produce 2 different results. Experiments by the project people over a decade ago showed that the 2 different results was similar to what would be produced by 2 slightly different data sets, so forget about the word "validation". Checks are done in numerous ways by the researchers using statistical methods, and none of this is seen by the crunchers. The credit system only runs on the weekends these days, and until the entire maintenance/repair/upgrade is complete, don't expect the credit system to be run. As for running models at the moment, what's being downloaded is not necessarily of any use. And none the of information on any of the pages is necessarily correct. It may be coming from old files. No surprise that. The database is down and we're being supported on the backup database. Hence, not all functions are currently supported. By the way, I have more than a hundred tasks run and uploaded -- all without credit updates. Frankly, I don't care about credits but am confident they will occur for everyone when problems are corrected. They always have been. The topic is discussed, under obvious headings, in other threads.
