Since more than 10 years I contribute to climateprediction.net. But the change in the URL seems to be not very user-friendly. I use Windows 7 Pro and BOINC Version 7.10.2(x64). I was recommended to change the URL of the project what seems only possible after completing the running work unit. So I did this loosing a lot of CPU time wasted on the running jobs. But now, trying to remove the project in the window of my BOINC manager the field to detach the project is greyed out. I tried to re-initialize climateprediction.net and got another project which tells me in the messages: 16.07.2018 01:11:52 | climateprediction.net | Master file download succeeded 16.07.2018 01:12:18 | climateprediction.net | Already attached to a project named climateprediction.net (possibly with wrong URL) 16.07.2018 01:12:18 | climateprediction.net | Consider detaching this project, then trying again 16.07.2018 01:12:18 | climateprediction.net | Project has no tasks available 16.07.2018 01:12:18 | climateprediction.net | New computer location: work So what I have to do to consider to detach the project ? I dont find any hint in the FAQ. Please send me help urgently. thanks Dr.Mabuse *** Since I'm a fool I prooved that the system is not foolproof ;-) *** |

"Greyed out" usually means that you attached through some manager other than BOINC. In which case, you need to Detach using that same manager. And the message that you received should have ended with "when convenient" Which means "when you don't have any work for that project." Which in turn means "when ever you complete the work", not "this very instant." It's also being debated at present whether any of the old, incomplete/unreturned work from earlier in the year is still of use. Possibly more on that from the project people this week. |

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was recommended to change the URL of the project what seems only possible after completing the running work unit. So I did this loosing a lot of CPU time wasted on the running jobs. But now, trying to remove the project in the window of my BOINC manager the field to detach the project is greyed out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, I was also waiting for some tasks to finish before reconnecting. I wouldn't have thought that you have lost any CPU time if your tasks were completed and updated as mine were. To reconnect to the project, I uninstalled BOINC, deleted all the related folders & files and then reinstalled BOINC and reconnected to the project. Might have been a slight overkill but at least prevented any other problems. |

I don't know how but my obsolete climateprediction account has disappeared and I could successful attach to the project again. The last run with 1,573,932CPUsec is waiting for validation as do 54 other jobs, some elder than 7 years. What will happen woth those ? thanks for help Dr.Mabuse *** Since I'm a fool I prooved that the system is not foolproof ;-) *** |

This project does not use the BOINC validation system, so you do not have to worry about jobs waiting for validation. |

CPDN doesn’t use the Boinc validation system. Just disregard the waiting for validation notifications. The results were excepted and you received the credits that were due. |

CPDN doesn’t use the Boinc validation system. The way I understand it, most projects validate work when a second machine produces the same result. With CPDN results can vary between operating systems and also between cpu types. This obviously will cause problems with a validation system that depends on two machines producing an identical result. Instead CPDN uses statistical methods to compare results from batches that are usually a few thousand in number and check that results are within a statistically acceptable range. If my or your particular result is an outlier that gets rejected, we are still credited for the work done. |
