Andy had been working on a script for daily credit updates that didn't involve the massive amount of processing the weekly system does. It was being tried out on the testing site which is currently down. I will ask what the current status of this is. It would speed up the processing if Andy deleted all the past DEADLINE tasks "IN PROGRESS" on computers that no longer exist. I have tasks that had DEADLINES for 2013. I suspect I am not the only one the project is tracking dead tasks for. |

I suspect I am not the only one the project is tracking dead tasks for. I understand the new batch file doesn't involve keeping track of all the old stuff. It is more about waiting till other tasks allow time for the testing of it and ironing out of any problems. |

It's not up to Andy to decide what tasks to delete. That's for the project people. And perhaps we should return to the standard BOINC system: Do away with trickles, and give credits when a task is completed successfully. |

Talking of Credits - where are they? They seem to have gone missing again. |

I have a theory that instead of the batch file being run weekly it is now run based on a random number generator. |

I thought the whole idea of credits based on trickles was to give credit for the actual work done as CPDN tasks are always much longer than those of other projects. I suppose the only way of calculating the actual work done is to base it on either trickles or the uploaded zip files. Could these be used as a basis of determining the % of the task that has been successfully completyed and base credits on that? |

I was addressing the people who constantly want fast credits. What I suggested was an alternative to the current system. And then it all went quiet. And it was a bit tongue-in-cheek. Perhaps some :) needed? *************** And to address the latest query about credits (without having to ask about it): We've had a reply back about the slowness of the message board. It seems to have been a small dos attack, which also interrupted the credit script. Which is still running. So, there you have it. |

And to address the latest query about credits And looking at my two computers this morning, credits seem to have updated. I still prefer my theory that the script is run at times based on a random number generator. ;) |

Would it be time to run the credit script this weekend? It didn't run last weekend and latest stats export was almost three weeks ago! |

If it doesn't run this weekend, I or another moderator if they get there first will remind them to manually get the script that triggers it going again. Will also check that resends that were turned off when zips were piling up have been turned back on again. |

On June 24 I lost about 2.3 million credits. This happened once before and that time I saw messages that indicated that there was a general failure and other uses besides myself were affected. Eventually the problem was fixed and the credits lost on that previous occasion were restored. This time I found no such messages and wonder if this time the loss was just for me. Is there anyone I can contact who can look into this? Thanks. |

Is there anyone I can contact who can look into this? That older situation was completely different. Previously the server crashed, a db restored with a lower credit for everyone. Later restored as mentioned. This time, the stats at your profile have not been affected. Only external stats sites. Read through the threads. |

This time, the stats at your profile have not been affected. Only external stats sites. Read through the threads. Strange, no drop in my credits. If you have a screen shot showing the drop in total credit or if anyone else is affected and has one I will pass on to Andy unless someone who understands better than I can explain. |

This time, the stats at your profile have not been affected. Only external stats sites. Read through the threads. That is exactly what I said. Your profile, here at CPDN, is correct and is higher. Stats site have not updated (BOINCStats) or have reverted to old stats(Free-DC). The stats here also did not update last week. Like the post right above yours said an admin is being emailed about restarting the stats script. |

Still no reply but in my experience that often means that at Oxford they are placing, "getting on with it" above replying to emails. Will remind them next Monday if things don't update over the weekend. |
