By "project", do you mean climate model/task ? When you added "climateprediction.net", did you use http://, or https:// ? When did this happen ? (day, and approx time if possible) I'll email the project when I hear back. I don't like the sound of this. |

OK, I'll assume that you were already attached using the unsecure url, and attached using the secure url. To change url's you first off have to disconnect the computer from the unsecure url, THEN re-attach. Which doesn't explain the old deleted user name, but the database server has been playing up for the past 1.5-2 days. BOINC shouldn't need re-installing. |

Apologies for oversized font. Configuring a new laptop today, the offered URL was selected. It was, unfortunately in small typeset and I failed to notice. Hence, CPDN was installed as ' http '. When no contact could be made, I finally noticed and the derelict was removed. (Quick and easy: highlight CPDN's project name in boinc manager's 'Projects' and click 'Remove' in the 'Commands' list in the left column.) Then, to install CPDN from boinc's long Projects list, an 's' was edited-in before clicking 'install'. By the way, CPDN isn't 'The Lone Ranger' with this problem. I do not think you understand, The account is not mine and the remove commmand is not highlighted. Therefore, I cannot delete as you suggest. |

You must have an account in your name because you're posting here. And you have a model running on one of your computers: hadcm3s_e704_190012_180_784_011728012_0 So there must be a project in the Projects tab of your BOINC manager that says climateprediction.net So you'll most likely have to Reset this one, and then Remove that project. Incidently, just how many cpdn projects are listed in the project tab? If you only have one, then something is seriously wrong with the way that you are joining the project. Is the same thing wrong on your second computer? |

Bit confused by your original question. Are you referring to the old account "old_user693724" as a project? |

ITS a second user id and sometimes it appears with a second project of climateprediction in the project list. |

I found where it happens. It happens when you use Charity Engine as an account manager to add climateprediction.net to Boinc. So I stopped using it. As soon as I stopped using it the remove button high lighted and I was able to remove the OLD_User from Boinc and add climateprediction.net to Boinc without adding the OLD_User project. Will Notify Charity Engine of the Problem, |

Well, I would never have picked that answer. And I'd never heard of Charity Engine before. |

Well, I would never have picked that answer. And I'd never heard of Charity Engine before. Me neither. Though my brief foray into using an account manager (gridcoin in my case) did not last long due to various problems with a couple of projects and I now steer clear of them. Gridcoin it should be noted has had a number of posts with adverse comments on the BOINC forums so I may be being unfair in tarring them all with the same brush. Having thought about it some more, for me, there is no advantage in using one. Edit: I notice doing a quick search on "Charity Engine Account Manager" There are lots of links on how to get rid of it! Never a good sign. |
