I am experiencing a problem with one particular screensaver - 3D Windows XP (from Microsoft) which fails after 1-3 seconds. If I disable everything using msconfig then it works. I'm wondering if it's Boinc that's causing this. Other 3D screensavers (and Boinc's) work fine.
Anyone else experiencing this?

The 3D types of screensavers usually will cause the computer to hang when any DC project is running. They just can't get enough CPU time to start or stop when a high CPU usage program is running.

Thanks. I thought as much. I'm only using 1 of 2 processors, but even so I suspected that this was the case.
