One option still available is the cache. Set it low, to one or two, see how they go, and then decide if you want to continue with that type. Not that there's going to be much variety to choose from. |

I too am surprised the application selection feature is completely gone now. https://www.cpdn.org/prefs.php?subset=project Various old models would take up 10's of gigabytes. At various points, I would have to periodically delete old models in order to download any new units. By selecting only a few models, this was less of a problem. Also, in the past, the researchers were able to use different platforms as a way to validate a model. Since floating point calculations, etc. varied slightly, it helped them tune the models with a bigger variety of data points. If such an emergent result is no longer useful, then I would highly recommend they post the minimum requirements per platform. (For example, these could go on the CPDN homepage next to the how to join section.) |

Linux (32-bit) Red Hat Linux 8.X and 9.X are so old, it is difficult for me to believe anyone is using them anymore. RHL8 came out in 2002; RHL9 came out in 2003. I am running Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.10 (Santiago) that is almost at the end of its 10-year support period. I will upgrade to RHEL 8 as soon as I can, but it will be a while before I can do it as EPEL have to catch up. |

Yes, it is getting a bit old. Perhaps like saying that you need a 2 horse bucggy rather than a one horse, when they've all been replaced by this new fangled automobile. :) I might try a re-write, and see how "them upstairs" feel about a change. |

That list isn't useful for the latest tasks. And Windows 10 isn't even mentioned. |

It does say "minimum requirements", which covers things, but, as I said in my previous post ... |

https://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/AppFiltering BOINC offers two mechanisms allowing users to control the set of apps for which they get jobs. The first, lets you designate apps as "beta test", and lets users opt-in to getting jobs for these apps. The second, "app filtering", lets users select apps individually. App filtering is disabled by default. To enable it, add to your html/project/project_specific_prefs.inc: define ('APP_SELECT_PREFS', true); The app filtering user interface is part of project-specific preferences (i.e., the "Preferences for this project" link on their account page). If the feature is enabled, users are shown: •A list of apps and check boxes. •A checkbox labeled "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?". |

Sandman If you're talking about the one in the Notices tab, then you need to log out of your account, and then attempt to log back in. At which point you'll get a page explaining the new GDPR rules, and you have to either tick or ignore the option at the bottom. This is about giving your permission to export your personal CPDN information to the external stats sites. I'm not sure what happens if you don't agree; possibly all of the info already stored on those sites will disappear. If you're talking about a message in the BOINC Events Log, then you'll have to copy it and paste it here so that we can see it. Plus a few lines either side may be useful. |
