Not usually. If there are no models available for download for the operating system of your PC then the “no tasks sent” message appears. Sometimes there is additional information, roughly “the project has no tasks” or “your job cache is full”.

Your PC is running Windows and there are no tasks available for Windows at the moment, apart from the occasional crash that’s reissued.

Thank you. As a Windows operative, I would hope that Windows Tasks would appear soon, but I won't hold my breath!

I thought of posting that but was worried I might jinx them. :-)

I've forgotten for how long the last task has been received, but my computer has no wu's to calculate. I see all servers are functioning normally. How is it possible that nothing is sent to me anymore?

If you can see the servers are working normally, you should also be able to see there is no work waiting to be sent. The work is given to Oxford where the project is based by universities all over the world and when Oxford get it, they then send out the batches of work for crunchers to download. There have been hints of HADAM4 work and also some WAH2 tasks soon but I have learned that soon is something of a moveable feast. So don't hold your breath!

Also, should you click the update button, you will see under the project tab in BOINC manager (assuming you are in advanced view) a countdown till the next time the client will contact the project. If you click update again during that time the backoff of just over an hour starts again.

Things that sometimes affect when work comes out include
1. University terms.
2. PhD deadlines - when a researcher needs data by.
3. Severe weather events are sometimes the impetus for researchers to pursue a particular avenue.

I will sound out the other moderators about having a sticky about this so it is easy to find.

Looking at the list of tasks completed by your computer, the last was in the middle of last year.
There were several batches of 2,000 to 3,000 each for Windows towards the end of last year.
With the thousands of computers waiting to get work, the early batches lasted about 30 minutes.
The last couple of batches lasted longer, a couple of hours I think. Possibly because by then the large caches had filled up.

If your computer is also running work for other projects, then it probably didn't need work at the time all this was happening, and didn't ask for any.

Last larger batch of work for windows was at Jan 18-19. It lasted about 30 hours before it was gone. The ready to send queue peak was about 9000 tasks. Look here: http://ob.cakebox.net/cpdn_status/server_status.html It is a graphical view of server status with history included.

They are working on setting things up so everyone can work from home. Obviously an exception is if a hard drive needs to be physically replaced etc. I know that some of the team already have access to do some bits from home so don't know what is involved.

Some problems can be solved if there is a will to solve them and some cannot if there is a lack of interest. Fast machines, slow machines. Work Units issued and lost.
Some machines are outdated and creepy slow, some machines are fast and their turnaround times are good.
Some WU's are out there but are lost in limbo. For example, my account is showing a WU issued in 2013, due back in 2014 and still being showed on my account. Well, that computer burnt out and I cannot retrieve that WU.
As far as I am concerned there seem to be some Pentium 1's out there hogging quite a few WU's? How long will administration wait for the first to blink? Reissue them to new faster machines i.e. if the admin cares.
Just a matter of good housekeeping and if there is any interest left.
I am talking about Windows WU's but the same trend may be visible on other OS's. Come on admin, have a heart and please do not wait until our time is past and we compute for the Creator.

A lot of old models are past their use by date, and have been closed.
This isn't like when the project started, and everything was kept.

Now, there is a time limit on how long the researchers will wait, before they ask for the batch to be closed.

That time limit would then be ideal for task deadline?
