So the server status page shows that there are about 63000 tasks in progress. But the sum of the individual sub-projects is below 45000. Does anybody know where the discrepancy comes from? I know that I have tasks on my list showing still 'In progress' although they were finished ages ago but server never acknowledged them finished usually because of some server side problems.

I think that the discrepancy is because the total is still including the older programs that were removed from the list a year or so back.

Hi all. Hope you're all staying well during this time.

Speaking of tasks in progress, I noticed that it is very likely that many of these tasks aren't being worked on, as their numbers haven't decreased much in months. When the deadlines are reached and the tasks aren't completed, do the tasks get sent to someone else who will get them done?

Thanks.

There are problems with that data. Most of what it shows is so old that the tasks would be useless.

Given the interest in the numbers, I'll start a discussion with the project people.
Perhaps the obsolete models can be closed, and removed from the list.

That would be a great help, thank you.

That would be great. Would it be possible to remove orphaned WUs also?
These are WUs still "In progress" but no longer at the user's system (even after detach/attach)

I haven't had a reply yet, so people may just have to not look at all of those numbers for a while longer.

Hi Les, did you send it on the email list because I don't remember seeing it.

Les,

It has been a few more years and there are still just under 20,000 invisible and probably old tasks hanging around ... Based on Active applications and tasks in progress vs total tasks in progress from the Server Status page ....

Can you bump an email to Glenn Carver and see what he thinks ?

Thank you
Bill F

Glenn reads the forums ;). I think I asked this question a while ago and it was something to do with the way CPDN setup their projects, they don't use some of the facilities that boinc offers. Bottom line, it looks odd but just ignore it.
