I have a Task that shows completed, successful and valid but it was not awarded any credit ?

Task 22110069

I have not had this happen before. Am I missing something ?

Thanks
Bill F

The task page for that one, says that it was received on 16 Jul 2021, which is the day after the script runs.

To add to what Les has said, CPDN has a credit script that runs just once a week. Andy was trying a script that ran daily on the testing site but I am not sure what happened to that idea. Anyone holding their breath on that one would have passed out a long time ago!

Other projects have different systems for calculating credit. Here it is currently based on the trickle up messages which are sent at the same time as the monthly zip files. Other projects run things differently, some you get the credit right away, some you only get the credit when a second computer confirms your result. There are I am sure more details I am not aware of for other projects but that covers the majority.

I think the update did not work, my last change was July 11.

Should be there now. It runs after midnight on Sunday and takes quite awhile to finish and post.

As the lead core dev for Gridcoin, I would be very interested in hearing the results of that daily script. CPDN was whitelisted on Gridcoin originally, but was removed a few years ago because the stats need to be updated daily to meet Gridcoin's whitelisting requirements. It would be good to get CPDN back on the whitelist as there are MANY Gridcoiners that feel this project is very important and would love to contribute, including myself!

There's no recent info on the new script that was being worked on.
So once a week it is.

Plus there's very little Windows work these days, and there's already an oversupply of computers waiting to grab it.

Strange Server Status says there's 10613 WUs ready to send. They must be Windoze since my Linux computers are not getting enough. The Applications page shows the work is dominated by Linux. I'm completely baffled by the relevance of Windows apps to whitelisting for Gridcoin which requires daily stats updates. People want to help but it sounds like you don't want any help.

Jim, I gave up hope, climateprediction.net will ever run the script once a day, that is why I started to pay out small amounts of GRC every week.

I also asked you (I think with a PM never answered), if Gridcoin might implement a rain function for not whitelisted projects to simplify distributing GRC to “worthy-but-not-whitelisted BOINC projects”. I understood from an old forum post, that the scraper does not pull the data of not whitelisted projects at the moment – but this GRIDCOIN might be able to change. Or at least make the message part of “sendmany” command work.

This always in the spirit, that Gridcoin promotes the use of computers for BOINC instead of executing “useless” hashing algorithms at other coins.

And as a final thought, this might be one of GRC useful uses – short term - you and so many are looking for: “Pay Gridcoiners to crunch not whitelisted projects”.

To all, if anybody likes to donate, GRC address for the weekly payouts to cliemateprediction.net is: SJS78tV8MYrXaA8GwszN2bZz6WraaUaREq

I have read your comment several times now, but I honestly think, this should not bother you or climateprediction.net. There are projects that only use GPUs, and then there are those with work for Linux and Windows, some do have Android WUs other not, so each project has its own operating system and this is one of the fun parts of running BOINC: Know which project works best with which operating system and/or computer set-up.

Are you sure you have all the lib32 apps installed? I do not have any problems to download WUs on Linux or Win WSL. By the way, it is best not to run climateprediction.net on all cores or threads. But this you already know as a heavy BOINC user.

Aurum

To find out what OS each model type will run on, go to the line at the top of this page, (and most other pages), and click on Computing.
Then click on Applications in the drop down list.

When a batch of 3,000 tasks does get released, it only takes 30-60 minutes for all of them to be grabbed by the hordes of Windows computers waiting for work.

Aurum As your computers are all hidden I can't look to try and see what is going wrong but all the current tasks available are Linux.
Edit: just seen your post in Linux section so I know you have the libs.
What do you mean by not enough? It might be worth checking what settings you have under options>computing options.

Back to credit
It seems the weekly script didn't run so I will if I don't see someone else has already done so let Andy know.

… to add to what Les said, there is a New Work Announcements thread on this message board. If you subscribe to that thread then a notification will be sent to you when one of the moderators spots a new batch and reports it to that thread: you can then get a little bit ahead of the (Windows) crowd by doing a manual update for the climateprediction.net project in BOINC Manager to request new work.

Didn't get round to letting Andy know about credit till after he had emailed about the network downtime at Oxford tomorrow. (See news and announcements thread at the top of this section. I doubt if there will be time for the script to run between Andy having received my email and the downtime starting so don't expect it to run before Wednesday at the earliest. Andy may well just set it to run next weekend as normal so if credit doesn't update I wouldn't panic before late Sunday at the earliest.

Then, there are many who are loyal to this project not for coins of any sort. Their computers are hammering away at the server for work. As soon as there is work all the computers go into a feeding frenzy. I have seen WU's vanish in less than an hour.
My settings are ten days plus ten more days. At thirty-six WU's I set it at "no more tasks" or I might end up with seventy-two WU's.

And I see that the credit script has run despite the IT guys as Oxford not having finished yet.

Major shock! 2 credit updates within a week!

The last updates time stamps on BOINCStats are ...
Last update user XML 2021-08-13 13:50:30 UTC (10 days 16:56:52 old)
Last update host XML 2021-08-13 13:50:30 UTC (10 days 16:56:52 old)
Last update team XML 2021-08-13 13:50:30 UTC (10 days 16:56:52 old)

So the credit numbers may not be making it to Export ?

Thanks
