Hmm... I've setup another System, this time a Dual AthlonMP 2000+ running Linux. But even with my preferences updated to allow BOINC to take 2GB of Disk Space, it downloaded only one CPDN WorkUnit. Top shows the CPU Utilization at 100% only for one CPU, the other remains idle (?) Is BOINC V4.09 possibly unable to utilize the 2nd CPU (despite the Preference setting set to "On multiprocessors, use at most: 2 Processors" ) ?? IMHO, it should have detected the 2nd, idle CPU, and downloaded a 2nd Workunit, and run 2 Models parallel. -- update -- The Box just got SETI up and running on the Idle CPU, so it seems BOINC prefers to share CPU's among different projects, rather than having 2 CPU's running one and the same one (?) ___________________________________________
Scientific Network : 36200 MHz «» 8204 MB «» 815.0 GB
|

Yes it should. > -- update -- > The Box just got SETI up and running on the Idle CPU, so it seems BOINC > prefers to share CPU's among different projects, rather than having 2 CPU's > running one and the same one (?) No it shouldn't ;-) I have a dual MP running Windows XP with boinc 4.05 and boinc detects both CPUs and downloads two workunits. Did you originally have 1 CPU or are they modded XPs? Have you tried updating climateprediction.net on the project tab? I think your problem probably has something to do with the disk capacity preferences, seeing as a SETI workunit is a lot smaller than a climateprediction one. Funnily I have exactly the opposite problem. I have both SETI and climatepredition workunits downloaded (only a single CPU Windows XP PC) with both set to 50%, but the SETI project never gets any CPU time... Pete |

Hi FalconFly, nice to meet you here ;-) With BOINC 4.05 their was a known "bug", that the resourceShare for CPDN had to be higher than 50%. Only then the CPDN-WU for the second Prozessor had been downloaded. It was discussed here Hope this helps, Greetings Supporting BOINC, because it is really a great concept ! |

Hi Yeti :) Well, due to me attaching multiple Projects, the 2nd CPU is utilized normally now and works flawless. I reckoned my global setting of "Keep enough work / Contact Server every 1 day" might have resulted in it downloading only one Model initially. ___________________________________________
Scientific Network : 36200 MHz «» 8204 MB «» 815.0 GB
|
