In any case, four of the six I received have now completed successfully and the last two are running with about two hours on each of them. So we can assume that the tasks are ok, including the data they are using.. I do not know about all 1018 units, but I agree that that the ones I got are ok and for some reason the other user's machine had trouble getting them to work, or even start, And since they are OIFS, it is not because of missing 32-bit libraries. |

and for some reason the other user's machine had trouble getting them to work, or even start,Most likely explanation is computer has been turned off or crashed. It hasn't been in contact with the server since the day the tasks were issued. |

and for some reason the other user's machine had trouble getting them to work, or even start, My machine does not even get work if it is crashed or turned off. My boinc client works only when the machine is turned on and running, which is most of the time. It hardly ever crashes and I reboot it only when the Linux kernel is upgraded, which is usually less than once a month. Of course other users my run their machines differently. So unless that machine crashed between downloading those work units and when it tried to run them, It is pretty obvious to me that my machine is off or crashed. I do have a UPS good for about 12 minutes that powers my machine, monitor, router, etc. And a natural gas fueled backup generator that comes on about 10 seconds after the power company fails or does a brownout. Similarly for my little Windows 11 machine, but it has its own UPS that big enough to run it for about an hour. |
