Hi @all, I can see that currently (finally) there are some tasks available (right now 1805 unsent Weather At Home 2 (wah2) ). On my machine with 32c/64t I have running 11 tasks and don't reveive any more. In the log it says: got 0 new tasks. In the project settings I have set unlimited number of tasks and 100% ressources can be used. Why won't I get more task? What do I need to do? Thanks for any help. |

The first thing you should do is set 'Use 50%' cpu resource, not 100%. The CPDN tasks slow down if you try to make them use all threads because they are floating-point heavy. Are you clicking on 'Update' for the project frequently? The CPDN server had a 1hr wait-time. That gets reset back to 1hr if 'Update' is clicked before an hour is up. |

Oh ok thanks for the tips, I will try that. Yes I'm requesting update frequently but then it says in the log it's too recent and I have to 36xx sec which is pretty much 1 hour :D Or it says server has no jobs available (although over 1k are available according to server status). All a bit weird. |

Yes, that's right. It will keep resetting. Better to not click 'Update' at all as far as CPDN is concerned. 'No new tasks' is sometimes because the scheduler was a bit slow to respond when you made the request and got told there weren't any -- there are various processes in play behind the scenes. I don't pretend to know details but someone else might. There are plenty of workunits left, I've just checked on the machine. If you're a new user then the system might be limiting you to 1 workunit per day. Give it a day or two. --- CPDN Visiting Scientist |

Down to 449 ready to send now.For NZ25 yes, but there are alot more East Asia batches coming as well. There's no need to think there won't be enough Windows work in the near future. Anyway, back to the topic of this thread. I'd say things are working ok since you have already obtained some CPDN tasks. --- CPDN Visiting Scientist |

Yes better than nothing :D But they could get more ressources from me if they accepted it. Unfortunately not. |

The first thing you should do is set 'Use 50%' cpu resource, not 100%. The CPDN tasks slow down if you try to make them use all threads because they are floating-point heavy. That is not my experience at all. On my main (Linux -ID: 1511241 ) machine I normally say to run 75% of the cores for Boinc tasks, and CPDN has twice the priority of the next project I run (WCG). If all the work were floating point limited, then the tasks would run more slowly than they otherwise might, but it would not prevent me from getting work if it is really available. Since my main machine runs Linux, I have received no CPDN work for about a week. My pipsqueak (Windows 11 - ID: 1512658) machine is set to use 7 of the 8 cores it has for Boinc tasks. It does not do anything else except at Income Tax time (March). It is currently running two v8.24 tasks and one v 8.29 task. I received them June 24. When I look for available CPDN work, if memory serves correctly, none has been available for about a week. But my memory is not what it used to be. |
