I finally got around to checking for leftover directories and files in projects/climateprediction - see https://www.cpdn.org/forum_thread.php?id=9256 Rather than just leftover directories and files from v8.29, I found a heap of task directories, some going back to 2018: d---- 22/05/2020 10:05 PM wah2_anz50_307y_208912_32_872_012025274 d---- 30/06/2019 2:25 PM wah2_anz50_n0fq_201612_20_794_011762952 d---- 18/05/2024 3:21 AM wah2_eas25_a06z_200912_24_1015_012276947 d---- 13/05/2024 3:40 AM wah2_eas25_a148_201212_24_1015_012278144 d---- 17/03/2024 9:25 PM wah2_eas25_a1ad_199312_24_1007_012266525 d---- 7/07/2024 6:14 PM wah2_eas25_a24i_199812_24_1007_012267610 d---- 7/07/2024 9:59 PM wah2_eas25_a2m4_200112_24_1007_012268244 d---- 8/07/2024 8:28 PM wah2_eas25_h330_201612_24_1006_012262804 d---- 14/03/2024 2:05 AM wah2_eas25_h33c_201612_24_1006_012262816 d---- 14/03/2024 12:09 AM wah2_eas25_h46h_201912_24_1006_012264225 d---- 22/01/2024 1:18 AM wah2_eas25_h48c_201912_24_1001_012235450 d---- 1/05/2024 1:06 AM wah2_eas25_n05d_200912_24_1008_012271449 d---- 30/04/2024 3:49 PM wah2_eas25_n0ml_201012_24_1008_012272069 d---- 30/04/2024 6:52 PM wah2_eas25_n11w_201212_24_1008_012272620 d---- 6/11/2019 6:40 PM wah2_eas50_21p0_209512_24_851_011935581 d---- 5/11/2018 6:56 AM wah2_global_e01m_200412_145_766_011654430 d---- 13/10/2022 3:30 AM wah2_nz25_a10a_199405_25_936_012151068 d---- 19/01/2020 1:44 PM wah2_pnw25_b5q7_201512_15_864_011994712 d---- 27/11/2018 8:41 PM wah2_safr50_b11l_199012_16_774_011677268 d---- 14/12/2018 12:00 AM wah2_safr50_c4lm_200512_16_777_011700226 These folders contain all sorts of files and directories. I have no ClimatePrediction tasks running at the moment, so I'm guessing that none of these need to be there. What's the best way to get rid of them? Thanks! |

What's the best way to get rid of them?In BOINC Manager, on Projects-tab select climateprediction.net and click "Reset project" and "ok" this choice. A quick test reveals this will keep app_config.xml but delete everything else. Having to re-download the executables shouldn't be much of a problem, especially since next bach of Windows work should be new executables anyway. |

Newest batches, the tasks run in the slots directories which do get deleted after the task has reported. I am not sure if any tasks that still have directories with the task name are still being used. If they are and the problem recurs, then the directories with long gone tasks can be safely deleted. The only caution is to check the directory names carefully enough to be sure they don't belong to any running tasks. As Glenn has said in the new work announcements thread, there are several batches of EAS work about to arrive. Edit: On older machines in the past the disk space taken up by crashed tasks could end up being a serious problem if they were not cleaned out from time to time. |

The latest weather@home app does not put the task directory into the boinc slot directory. I have that in the development version but it's not released yet. Openifs tasks do however run in the slot directory. As has already been said, using the Reset Project option in the boinc client is the easiest way to clear out old files, for any project. --- CPDN Visiting Scientist |
