They must be using extremely low priority threads. BOINC is very low priority, so it gets out of the way of most applications. If something comes along running a lower priority than BOINC, the opposite happens and BOINC holds them up. (people report slowdowns with outlook express for example) |

Incredimail is built on Outlook express so that would make sense. WillHill's poker.exe claims to run at normal priority so maybe there is some background process it uses that is being affected. Only happens on my pentium laptop with wi-fi not on my AMD box. Incredimail issue is on both machines. |

>with wi-fi??? David! don't beet be, just thinking loud: wi-fi= a network. A network with am additional IP Number. Could it be possible, the "low running" Incredimail & WillHill are "sitting" on the ip protocoll stack (problems with sharing ip stack, resources conflict), running fine without boinc, but with boinc, lurging? You did not mentioned what kind of OS you have. A time ago, under windows98 se, with infrared build-in AND enabled, The laptop was suffering to, due permanet "watching" the port and looking for an other infrared device. for testing, try to disable network access at level boinc client/gui and perhaps the low running apps regaines up good luck ric |
